EVENTS
General Information
- USBGF Membership is required for ALL events. A $10 ABT fee is required for participation.
- Tournament Registration & Hospitality fee of $100 applies to all participants. Fee is discounted to $30 for Advanced Beginners and $20 for doubles partners.
- Clocks are required for all matches except the Limited ABT division.
- Dice on checkers are valid - Dice landing on checkers must be flat.
- Responsible moves - If an illegal checker move occurs, the opponent must either require it to be corrected or to stand. No other type of infraction may be condoned.
- One pair of dice required.
- Start Times & Time Penalties - Matches are expected to start 10 minutes after the pairing is determined. If a player is not at the board within 10 minutes then their clock will run until they return.
- Break Length & Time Penalties - Breaks must be limited to 1 5-minute break per player for matches of length between 7 points and 11 points. For 13 point matches each player may take 2 5-minute breaks. Players that are found to be breaking this rule without prior permission from the director may be penalized, including reserve time run-off or penalty points.
- All Side Pools are 95% return.
ABT Main event - championship
The Championship Division of the ABT Main Event is a double elimination format with a fresh draw consolation. The main prize pool will generally award prizes to 12-15% of entries. The side pool will award two prizes.
$300 Entry Fee, 90% Return; Optional $100 Side Pool.
11 Point Matches in the Main & Fighter Brackets;
9 Point Matches in the Consolation Bracket
Eligibility - Everyone is welcome to play in the championship division.

ABT Main event - Intermediate
The Intermediate Division of the ABT Main Event is a double elimination format with a fresh draw consolation. The main prize pool will generally award prizes to 15-20% of entries. The side pool will award two prizes.
$200 Entry Fee, 85% Return; Optional $50 Side Pool.
9 Point Matches in the Main & Fighter Brackets;
7 Point Matches in the Consolation Bracket
Eligibility - Generally players with a PR >8, win percentage <58% in intermediate & advanced division events, and not having cashed in > 20% of intermediate and advanced division events entered. All entries subject to eligibility committee approval.

ABT Main event - Advanced Beginner
The Advanced Beginner Division of the ABT Main Event is a double elimination format with a fresh draw double elimination consolation.
$40 Entry Fee, 100% Return; Optional $10 Side Pool.
5 Point Matches.
Eligibility - This event is for advanced beginners. Entrants should have some experience playing backgammon tournaments, but limited winnings/placements. Experienced players with PR < 15 should play the intermediate division.

Player's Cup BMAB
Part of the Player's Cup point race, this event is a swiss style 5 round event. The winner(s) will receive a share of a legacy iron star and points towards the annual point race and prizes.
There is a separate $100 registration fee for this event which covers recording, transcription, BMAB, Player's Cup, and director fees.
$150 Entry Fee, 100% return. Optional $50 & $100 side pools for best record and best PR.

Michigan masters Jackpot
ONE START TIME - The Michigan Masters Jackpot is a single elimination event. Pre-registration is required. This event will fill to 32 entries. 12.5% of the field will place in this event.
$500 Entry Fee, 90% return. Optional $200 side pool.

ONE START TIME - The Amateur Jackpot is a single elimination event. Pre-registration is required. 12.5% of the field will place in this event.
Eligibility - Entrants should play >6.5 PR and must not have a BMAB title of M3 or better. Other factors, such as win percent, recent placements, etc. will be considered when determining eligibility.
$250 Entry Fee, 80% return. Optional $100 side pool.
9 Point Matches. No re-entries.

The Open Doubles event is a single elimination event. Two entrants will partner up to compete against other teams. Pre-registration is required. This event will fill to 32 entries. A partner is required, no single player teams allowed.

The Limited Doubles event is a single elimination event. Two entrants will partner up to compete against other teams. A partner is required, no single player teams allowed.
Eligibility - No open division ABT players can play in the limited doubles.

WWB - fireworks cup
This event will be G2 format, meaning all participants will play a match and the winners will enter the main bracket while the non-winners will enter the consolation bracket. After the play in round both brackets are single elimination.
Women that place in the ABT divisions may not be eligible to participate in this event. Tournament staff will do their best to include all entrants if the schedule can reasonable accommodate.
$50 Entry Fee, 85% Return. Optional $50 Side Pool. $250 Added.
