TOURNAMENT PROCEDURES AND CONDITIONS
- USBGF Rules are in place with the following rule options:
- Dice on checkers are valid. The roll is valid if a die comes to rest on the playing surface or checkers on the same side of the bar as rolled and is not supported by a vertical surface, balanced
on edge or corner, or descends into the gap between the checkers it is on. Either player may object to the roll before either die begins to settle by declaring, "No Roll", requiring a re-roll.
- Responsible Moves - If an illegal checker move occurs, the opponent must either require it to be corrected or to stand. No other type of infraction may be condoned. Players must not hit their own checker.
- Clocks are required (except limited ABT)
- Use of two dice is required for all events.
- Pre-Register - Jackpot and Doubles events require pre-registration. Remaining spots will be sold on site if available.
- Eligibility - ABT & Jackpot Events have skill level eligibility criteria. You must play in the division appropriate to your skill level. The USBGF Eligibility Committee has final say on which division(s) you are eligible to compete in.
- ABT Events
- Format - Open & Intermediate ABT: Double Elimination with Fresh Draw Consolation.
- Format - Advanced Beginner ABT: 16+ entries | Double Elimination Main with Double Elimination Consolation. If entries <16 format to be determined based on exact entries. Participants will play at least 4 matches.
- Eligibility -
- Open: Anyone can participate.
- Intermediate: Generally > 8 PR with limited success in ABT events.
- Limited: Generally >15 PR with very limited tournament exp.
- Jackpot Events
- Format - Single Elimination, no re-entries
- Super Jackpot: 16 max; 13-point matches
- Michigan Masters: 32 max; 11-point matches
- Amateur Jackpot: 32 max; 9 pts; Generally open to players with a PR >6.5, experience, win %, etc. will be considered.
- Doubles Format: Single Elimination; no re-entries; 7 points. Maximum of 32 Open doubles teams.
- Limited Doubles Format: Single Elimination; no re-entries; 7 points. No open players in Limited doubles.
- Judy Field Memorial Blitz, $1,350 Added by Judy's husband Nathaniel; $30 entry fee. Win a bracket of 8 to earn $100 and spot in Blitz Playoff.
- Women's World of BG Fireworks Cup: Guaranteed 2 matches format. Recording & transcription sponsorships available, contact Ben.
